CAAIN Research and Innovation Funding
Close Date: Open now, until allocated.
Description: CAAIN is seeking applications for research and innovation projects in the large-scale cultivation of crops on a minimum of 100 acres of land that:

(1) Advance the development, use, and value of automation and robotics
(2) Support the creation of data-based decision-making tools that can be applied to improve knowledge, reduce risk or optimize production
(3) Contribute to the implementation of a smart farm platform or smart farm networks to support technology adoption through fulsome integration of partners; creation frameworks for validation, demonstration and scaling; and training of a technologically proficient agricultural workforce

SARPAL – Cross fencing
Description: This BMP provides an opportunity to protect nesting grassland birds by incorporating rotational grazing with the intent of leaving some areas ungrazed until after July 15.

SARPAL – Exclusion fencing
Description: Funding is to support permanent fencing to exclude livestock from forest/woodland areas and treed corridors (e.g., established windbreaks, tree buffer strips) to protect critical forage and habitat areas for Monarch, Eastern Foxsnake, Gypsy Cuckoo and Rusty-patched Bumble Bees.

Animal Health

Beef Cattle – Animal Health and Biosecurity Producer Program
Close Date: March 31, 2028
Description: The Animal Health and Biosecurity Producer Program provides beef cattle producers, First Nation Bands raising beef cattle and beef cattle grazing associations operating on Saskatchewan Crown land pastures, with a rebate for voluntary veterinarian assessments, Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) audits (including re-certification) and approved eligible equipment expenses that improve biosecurity and animal welfare practices.

Beehive protection

Honey Bee compensation 
Description: SCIC will reimburse for the cost of posts, wire, insulators, connectors, and gate handle insulators and will reimburse for the purchase of new fencers with batteries. The equipment must have a life expectancy of five years or more. Valid original receipts must be provided for all reimbursable costs. Original receipts will be returned to the beekeeper/business prior to reimbursement of funds. Please include a sheet summarizing the totals of each receipt. You may be required to submit a photo of the yard if requested by the Bear Fence.

Total amount to be reimbursed by SCIC (80% of allowable costs up to $5000)
